The 3.5GHz RF OUT of our Eval_HMC836LP6CE is only -5.5dBm measured by Signal Analyzers(RSA5100B). This power is far below 6dBm in the HMC836 datasheet. I hope engineers can help us to solve the problem. Thank you very much.
Check the HMC836 bias network and component values match the eval board:
In particular to meet output power specifications check L4=1.5nH, L1=10nH, C8=8.2pF, C29=1.2pF and R8=22 ohms. At 3200MHz you will also have some PCB losses.
Besides the mismatch of the HMC836 bias network and values with the eval board, can it be the wrong(or inproper ) PLL Eval Software's settings that makes the output power weak?
The eval board software installation includes a register configuration file for the HMC836. Use the GUI to load this file -- this will setup the correct configuration for the VCO sub-system. I've attached this file.
