What would be the consequence of not connecting the AD7606-4 REGCAP pins (36 and 39). Would the conversion results not be accurate, or would the IC stop working all together?
There will be a degradation in the conversion results. This has been confirmed on the AD7606-4 evaluation board under nominal conditions and at a temperature of 25C. Not having the correct decoupling may cause the regulator to ring or oscillate. There may also be conditions where the AD7606-4 stops functioning altogether, for example under certain supply conditions or at temperature.
All of our characterization has been carried out with the decoupling capacitors in place. As a result we cannot guarantee the device will continue to operate under all conditions.
The Regcap pins need to be correctly decoupled for correct operation of the device. If not the AD7606-4 may not operate as expected.
I understand that it would affect performance, but I'd like to get specifics so I can determine if it's something I can live with in the interim until I fix my design. Will the IC stop functioning altogether, or would I see degradation in the conversion results?
