adv7511 hdl reference design cannot support high resolution

Zedboard + vivado 2015.04 + linaro 20120923 + adv7511 HDL reference design + AXI-DMA loopback


I am working with adv7511 HDL reference design on linaro OS, which shows 1920x1080 linaro desktop on a HDMI monitor.


Then I add an extra AXI-DMA ip into the vivado adv7511 HDL diagram with a loopback setup, i.e., connecting M_AXIS_MM2S directly to S_AXIS_S2MM, and leaving S_AXI_LITE / M_AXI_MM2S / M_AXI_S2MM auto-connected by vivado.


However, HDMI output flashes on 1920x1080, and I have to lower the resolution to 1280x720 to show the linaro desktop. Furthermore, when I start to run the APP of DMA loopback test in linaro, the screen resolution has to be even lower to 1024x768, otherwise the 1280x720 HDMI output cannot sustain.


P.S. I installed the xrandr on Linaro OS to adjust the screen resolution, following ADI weblink Linux with HDMI video output on the ZED, ZC702 and ZC706 boards [Analog Devices Wiki] and create the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file for default setup. attach the BOOT.bin and image.ub of "adv7511+DMA-loop" for your exam. Also attached, the modified pl.dtsi according to zynq-zed-adv7511.dtsi
