ADV7623 - wrong VIC info

I am writing software for our custom board (board details in prev questions) and following section 4.1 (HW Ref Manual) on-wards for HDMI Video Identification on input. I read AUX_VIC_DETECTED and for '000' I read VIC_DETECTED. Then I translate this VIC using FreeRunVicXltTable[] (from Repeater code).

Based on this VIC I select V_FREQ, VID_STD and PRIM_MODE. Also using VSyncPolTable[] (again from Repeater code). for sync polarities. Then disable background parameters measurement and as a final step I enable Free Run mode.

For a first test I get VIC 16 which is correct as source is my laptop in 1080p resolution.
But after reset ADV7623(same config as above) returns VIC 2 or VIC 1 for same source and I get no display on HDMI monitor.

Any guess why its not giving me proper VIC after reset and reconfig?
