JESD204B: why subclass 1 is better than subclass 2 in high speed?

Hello,

In JESD204B, if deterministic latency is needed we have the choice between subclass 1 (using SYSREF) and subclass 2 (using SYNC). I read somewhere that SYNC cannot be used above 500MSPS, and that i need to use SYSREF (so subclass1) for my application (AD9680 1GSPS converter).

I do not understand the difference between SYNC and SYSREF wich induces me to use subclass 1 and not 2.
Does anyone know the answer?

Thank you,
