Branched from an earlier discussion

I would like to do a follow up on this, concerning the Frequency Deviation, or f_DEV, which is related to the sweep slope.

Based on the sweep slope and Number of Steps (N_Steps) I can calculate the Frequency Deviation, f_DEV = Ramp_Dev / N_Steps. So, the f_DEV is essentially the granularity of the discrete frequency hops over the entire bandwidth or ramp of the chirp that is being generated, correct?

Furthermore, and most importantly, what are the advantages/disadvantages of keeping f_DEV small or making this value large?
