I need to multiply a digital signal having a fixed frequency around 30KHz (reference) to obtain, under program control, output frequencies which are a multiple of any integer factor between 2 and 16.
I have chosen to use an HMC704 or an HMC703 as PLL with a custom VCO and plan use the divider/counters to lock a custom VCO on multiples of the reference frequency.
I have tried to enter these values as phase detector frequency and VCO output frequency into the Wizard of ADI SimPLL but it simply gets stuck.I have tried other similar values sometimes gives an output but it never locks.
My VCO output signals are square signals from a D type flip-flop configured as a toggle at the output.
Are square signals compatible with the VCO inputs of HMC703 or HMC704?
@Is it possible to use this PLL for the above indicated reference and output frequencies?
Why is the ADI SimPLL program stuck with these values?
