I have an evaluation board (model PCB 105809) for a Hittite HMC439QS16G digital phase-frequency detector and, since I have never worked with this kind of devices, I would like to ask a few questions.
1) The board has two pairs of pins for the DC supply voltage (in the data sheets of the phase-frequency detector, refer to J5 in the drawing at page 10, the last page). I have measured the resistance between the two positive pins and found that it's high, while the two ground pins are connected. This means the two pairs of pins are independent. Why are there two independent pairs of pins? Do I need to connect two 5V supply voltages?
2) I need this board to set a phase-lock loop. What should I see at the output ports, referred as NU and ND? Can they be used somehow to obtain an error signal for the PLL? How exactly?
