Is it possible to detect whether the input signal is outside of allowed voltage range?
If the input voltage is too large then the input signal will be clipped by the ADC. If the signal is clipped then the detection of the H and V Sync becomes very hard so generally the part will not decode the signal and it could be the equivalent of having nothing on the ADC.
If you are worried about this then we would advise that you use a larger resistor divider before the ADC.
