Hi, I was trying to read data from SDRAM in EZ-KIT 21161N using Image Viewer - > UYVY , 640x480 (if i am not wrong its 614`400bytes to transfer from ADSP<-->PC) but reading one single Image Frame takes about 3minutes.Is it possible to speed it up?
Thank you for the screenshots displaying your current set up. I see that you are connecting to your EZ-Kit board via the on board Debug Agent. This will be the main cause of your speed issue as it is the slowest connection option available. To see a dramatic difference in speed I would recommend you use one of our external emulators, either the USB-ICE or the HPUSB-ICE. You can find details of these emulators here -
To emphasize the difference in speed you will see, the download speed of the Debug Agent is 9000 Bytes/Sec, the download speed of the HPUSB-ICE is 1.7MB/Sec.
Also, i notice that you are working with the base release of VisualDSP++ 5.0. We always recommend that our customers work with the latest possible version of VisualDSP++, which at the moment is VisualDSP++ 5.0 with update 10. You can download Update 10 free of charge from our website here -
Note, you might be interested in using the clone feature of VisualDSP++. This allows you to apply an update to a cloned version of your existing installation, allowing you to preserve your current installation when trying a new update. This option is available via 'Start' -> 'Programs' -> 'Analog Devices' -> 'VisualDSP++ 5.0' -> 'Maintain this Installation' -> 'Clone this Installation'.
Please post more details of your set up. For example, how are you connecting to the 21161 EZ-Kit board. Are you using the on board debug agent or an external emulator? If an external emulator, which one are you using?
What version of VisualDSP++ are you working with and what update, if any, have you applied? If you are unsure then you can find this information by selecting Help->About VisualDSP++ from within the IDDE.
Please post details for how you have configured the Image Viewer. You can find this information by right clicking and selecting Configure.
MY settings :
board: 21161N EZ-KIT LITE REV 2.4
Ok, thank you for your help.
