I am using AD8302 to find the phase difference between two tones. is there a phase error/imbalance in the part? some +/- degrees?
Yes, the error of the phase measurement is shown starting on page 10 of the datasheet for several different frequencies. It is primarily dependent on the particular phase you a measuring, with large error at +/- 180 and 0 degrees. This error gets worse as you increase frequency and is secondarily dependent on the input amplitude.
my frequency of interest is 2.4GHz, and I want to measure 0 degrees and 180 degree phase between the two tones. based on TPC29 thats the worst thing I can do. Would you recommend passing the RF signals through a 90 degree line. that way i can measure the 0 degrees and 180 degrees offset by the 90degree line and I can be on the flat part of the phase error?
