I have a question related to an isolated CAN-Transceiver. Is there a need of an additional ground wire also with a floating ground? As in the application note AN-770 mentioned, the voltage reference can rise and fall with any surges that appear on the cable line. So theoretically the ground is positioned, that the differnetial signal at the transceiver is always in the valid range, also without a third wire.
So is there any other property, that can make a two-wired CAN bus problems?
