Linux driver data streaming

We've been having some frustrations with getting the Libiio API working, so I'm looking into controlling our 9371 with the Linux sysfs drivers. I have two questions:

1. There is a iio:device for the ad9371-phy and one for the axi-ad9371-tx-hpc as well as axi-ad9371-rx-hpc. Is all configuration on the transmitter or receiver done by writing to files under ad9371-phy, or are writes needed to the axi device files as well?

2. How can I access the IQ data being stored in memory through these sys files? The information here:

https://wiki.analog.com/resources/tools-software/linux-drivers/iio-transceiver/ad9371#driver_testingapi

gives info about configuring through the sysfs, but not on if there is any way to stream data in or out.
