HDMI without HDCP audio extraction

Hi,

I need to extract 7.1 channels audio from HDMI.

The HDMI source is generated in a Linux laptop - the video is the screen and the audio is synthesized by SW.

I believe that in that case the HDMI output from the laptop will not be HDCP encoded.

In that case, can I use one of the HDMI Transceivers (e.g. AD7626) without having an HDCP license?

In other words, Do AD's HDMI receivers without HDCP can still receive HDMI which is not content protected?

Thanks,

Yossi
