Setting up VisualDSP++ 3.5

Trying to set up and use VisualDSP++ 3.5, to compile for an ADSP-21992.

This version needs to be used because the original code was compiled on this version.

I need to make a simple code change, and recompile the source.

The IDE will not start up, because it appears to be saying that it can't connect to an eval board. I can't start a "session" in other words. I have a test drive licence for 90 days.

How do I start the IDE without going into a debug session? I have our custom hardware, but I just want to compile the source and use our tools to convert the output and enable us to flash the firmware onto the product.

Does anyone have any advice?
