ADV7619 Compliance Failures/Input Instability

Hi,

 

We're experiencing failures on a new product while performing Test 8-7 (Input Jitter tolerance). According to our test lab, the failures ONLY occur when cable emulators are introduced into the test setup, and ONLY in 4Kx2K@30Hz; When no cable emulators are present, the product passes all 4 test resolutions (480p, 720p, 1080p and 4Kx2K@30Hz).

 

We have tried modifying our detection algorithm on many occasions, but have not had any success. Our internal testing has shown that in a small percentage of detections the ADV7619 refuses to lock onto an incoming signal (caveat: We do not possess the equipment to duplicate the certification lab testing, so I cannot guarantee the attached dump represents exactly the same phenomenon as at the HDMI lab): I have provided a dump of the HDMI and I/O Map registers for such a case below (the input resolution is 4Kx2K@30Hz - 297 MHz):

Note: The instabilities being seen occur in any of the resolutions tested, but only occasionally.

 

The programming algorithm is based on the script version 1.9c (interestingly, the actual file contains the following lines, which are a bit confusing):

The only divergence from this script is that we do not systematically reset the ADV7619. ALL other programming steps are consistent with the script (this is born out by the fact that without the cable emulator we are able to grab the 4Kx2K mode correctly).

 

I am waiting for more detailed logs from the HDMI testing facility to see if they are similar to what we are experiencing. Do you have any comments/feedback/suggestions as to why the device would fail to lock when using the cable emulator, or why this periodic instability occurs...?
