Hi all, an elementary question, for a camera cape board we are intending to use ADV7280M and ADV7343 video decoder/encoder chips. Should they be pre-programmed before placing on the board for some configurations ?
All analog devices video decoders and encoders require the following steps:
1) Power-up the devices in the manner described in the datasheet.
2) Perform ADI recommended scripts. These are usually available on engineering zone.
An external microprocessor, microcontroller or FPGA needs to perform these I2C writes.
Note that the ADV7280-M video decoder outputs MIPI CSI-2 and is therefore not compatible with the ADV7343.
I advise that you use the ADV7280 video decoder as this outputs ITU-R BT.6565 video.
ADV7343 is a large complex part. Unless you are doing complex tasks such as deinterlieving (4:2:2 to 4:4:4 conversion) you can use a simpler encoder. The ADV7390 or ADV7391 are far simpler video decoders than the ADV7343.
You can also use the ADV7280 evaluation board design. This is available here ADV7280 / ADV7280-M Design Support Files
Are you using one of our evaluation boards for ADV7280-M evaluation board? If so you can use the DVP EVAL LATEST SOURCE SOFTWARE to program the ADV7280-M. Please refer ADV7280-M design support files for more details https://ez.analog.com/docs/DOC-10612
Are you using one of our evaluation boards for ADV7393? If so the ADV Register Control software can be used to run example configuration scripts on the ATV Evaluation platform and adjust I2C register settings via USB. Please refer ADV734X design support files more details https://ez.analog.com/docs/DOC-1665
Hi, thanks for your response. Well I couldn't elaborate the situation properly. We are implementing a custom camera cape board, adv7280M and 7343 being video processing blocks. The circuit is similar to the one in eval boards. So my doubt is, should these two chips (which we directly buy from stores i.e. digikey) be pre-programmed prior to the I2C addressing ?
Or a proper power supply sequence followed by I2C addressing should start the functionality ?
Sorry for the delay caused. Checking with Part specialist on this.
Thanks to you two, for clarifying this.
