ADAU1452 & SPI E2PROM for Selfboot.

The ADAU1452 should start via Selfboot. My customer has used an SPI E2PROM connected to pin 26, 27, 28, 29 and has set the according Selfboot Pin. He has used SIGMA Studio Version 3.13 Build1 Rev 1614 "self-boot memory"  etc. and has tried to write the E2PROM via USBi SPI 0x1 ADR0. But it didn’t  work as expected. My customer  believes that the generated SW should send a small program to the E2PROM for Selfboot.
Is this the right way to implement a Selfboot?
What could be the failure?

The used SPI-E2PROM is a MICRON N25Q064A13ExxDxx and connected according EVAL-ADAU1452MINIZ.

Every hint is welcomed.
