This happens on both my PCs
Let's see if we can figure out what's going on. Please provide the requested information and we'll see if we can duplicate the problem here. The installer has been run successfully both here and on user sites so we don't believe that is the issue.

Ok, I am installing on Win 7 x64 with Symanitc endpoint protection enabled – that’s our corporate AV system.
Looking at the logs, there is nothing to suggest that Symantic is blocking anything.
I have full admin rights on the system, and I’ve installed many things before.
I have also tried it on my laptop, which is the same environment, with the same result.
I didn’t think that the installer was broken, but any help you can give would be much appreciated.
The previous version is still installed on both systems.

The first thing I would suggest (if you haven't already tried) is to download the ADIsimPE installer again and try to install from that. If that doesn't fix the problem try these steps:

Sorry to say that I have tried all of these things with no luck.

When I hear back from the SIMetrix I'll see what they want to do. Meanwhile a question: when you ran the installer did you say run as administrator? I realize your account has admin rights but it might be something to try.
Is there a way to temporarily disable Symantec?

I heard back from my contact at SIMetrix/SIMPLIS. Could you check and ensure the installer size is exactly 164,152,480 bytes? Also, did UAC prompt you for permission when you ran the installer?
If neither of those ideas solves the problem it may be time to escalate to the installer people (at Simplis).

Yes, it does all of these. I have run it as admin explicitly too, but with no success.
I will see what I can do with Symantic, but that might be a lot more complex.

I'm pursuing another possibility on this end. Meanwhile could you run MSInfo32, export, and send the exported file? Feel free to send it directly to me (email@example.com).
We have the same problem, on most of our computers we can't install the simulator, it's stopped at the preparing stage.
We've received an updated ADIsimPE installer that should work on your machines. I've posted it for download but our web site is cached by Akamai so it will take a couple of hours to show up. The file size on the correct download is 164,152,208 bytes (the invalid installer is 164,152,480). Please try that installer and let me know if it solves the problem.
Our apologies on the installer problem. We're testing a possible fix. I hope to have an updated installer available for download today (we're in UTC-6). If I don't have something today I will get back in touch with a plan.
