What is type of output ADF5333 MUXOUT in "Analog Lock Detect" mode: open-drain or push-pull?
As you can see in page 17, it's a push-pull from DVDD TO DGND:
ADF5333? can't find that product.
But it doesn't work as push-pull. Digital Lock Detect is working, Analog Lock Detect with pull-up resistor only (as example in ADIsimPLL with open drain output). AN-873 whether it applies to the ADF5355?
Strange, according to the datasheet it should work as push-pull, but I never tried it as Analog lock detect, always used digital.
Yes - AN-873 applies to ADF5355.
However, it is not recommended to use analog lock detect on the ADF5355. It can lead to spurs on the RF output.
Is this still valid?
Could you maybe explain why using the ALD will lead to spurs on the RF output? Is it because the ALD path situated close to the oscillator section?
ALD outputs pulses on muxout. These pulses are the XOR result of the PFD N and R inputs. There is a possibility that the frequency of these pulses appear as a spur on the RF output.
