I consider to use AD8318 Logarithmic detector. Due to the measured signal will be very low and its rate of change might be less when it is detecting, I would like to know if this detector is based on Schottky diode?
No, the AD8318 is not a Schottky diode based detector. It is based on a progressive compression (or successive detection) style architecture. It will detect signals down to -60 dBm and there are ways to push the low frequency high-pass corner down. Or there are other log detectors that will respond down to the 100's of Hz.
What range of signal levels do you need detect and what frequency is your signal?
