The AD7799 data sheet Table 1 under ANALOG INPUTS, Absolute AIN Voltage Limits shows limits for inputs. In my experience "Absolute" implies that damage may occur if you go beyond the limits. However, this is not repeated in the Table 3 "Absolute maximum ratings". In my application, due to an external failure, AIN may go to ground with the 7799 operating in the In-Amp active mode. In such a case this "Absolute" limit would be exceeded, but the "Absolute Maximum" from Table 3 would not. Does this mean the part will suffer damage, or just that the reported values will be wrong or meaningless? Its a little hard to test if such damage might be slow to accumulate.
