I work for medical firm and I use on our new device an ADUM4160 and an ADUM 5000.
I would like to know If there are solutions to test easily and quickly the galvanic protection ?
How you test the isolation depends on the standard you need to pass. The ADuM5000 is certified for a 1 minute test for 2500Vrms isolation voltage, while the ADuM4160 is certified for 5000Vrms. Your specific medical application may have a different medical certification voltage, which may be an rms voltage or even a DC voltage. In either case, the galvanic protection can be tested by the use of high pot tester. These testers apply a high voltage and measure the leakage current. For example, per the datasheet the UL 1577 test, each ADuM5000 is proof tested by applying an insulation test voltage >= 3000Vrms for second with a leakage detection limit = 10uA.
