How to properly install gr-iio on Ubuntu 14.04.2

I am working with a ZC706 and a FMCOMMS3 board. I can bring up gnuradio-companion on the ZC706, as well as iio-oscilloscope. I now want to be able to run gnuradio and gnuradio-companion on a remote Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS machine. I have gotten gnuradio-companion to run properly on it, but I cannot run any of the example applications, like the FM radio, from a remote Ubuntu machine. The reason is because it does not have the Analog Devices tools installed. I believe that I need gr-iio installed on the remote Ubuntu machine. But, every time I try to install it by following various instructions, I end up with errors and nothing works.

What is the best way to install the gr-iio (and, for that matter, iio-osciloscope and examples) on the remote Ubuntu machine? I was able to install the Windows version of IIO-oscilloscope and it works fine.
