AD9833 to generate two delayed frequency-controlled square signals

Hello all,

 

I'd like to get two clock square signals, one delayed 1-2 ns seconds from the other. As far as I know, that is not that much, :-(, I think it is possible to use AD9833 to do it. My idea is to use two of these ICs, using a non-zero value in the phase offset register of one AD9833 to achieve the 1 or 2 ns delay. The frequency of both reference signals should be able to be tunned in frequency. Let's say, the frequency range should be 20-40 MHz. Is it possible to get all of this with this DDS? Would it be simpler to use just one DDS to perform the two signals? Which one would fit?

 

In the case of that range (20-40 MHz), what external clock should I need to use? What about the step size? How small can it be? I need to adjust the frequency quite precisely...

 

I will really appreciate any help,... especially if this comes asap!
