TDD dig_tune fail

I am using a FMCOMMS2 and Zedboard with HDL and no-os that I grabbed on 9/28. I don't know what versions I have. Is there a way to tell just from the files I have downloaded?

 

FDD mode works fine. Now I want to move to a 2 channel RX only TDD setup. When I set

 

frequency_division_duplex_mode_enable to 0 I get:

And no RX data. If I set tdd_use_dual_synth_mode_enable to 1 There are no tuning failures and I get data. I really don't want to have the TX synth on. Is this normal operation?

 

 

Also, what does this do?

I don't see any explanation at AD9361 Device Driver Customization [Analog Devices Wiki]

 

How do I disable the DDS? I tried commenting out dac_init(ad9361_phy, DATA_SEL_DDS, 1); but there was still a ~1.5 Mhz sine wave coming out of the RX data.
