Digital Potentiometer single or dual supply

Hello, I'm designing a low voltage audio circuit (guitar level signals > 1v) with digital pots in mind (specifically the AD5241 for the 1M ohm and multiple IIC addresses. I'll have a single 5v supply available in the circuit, but if I'm grounding Vss, will I have to offset my audio signal (by 1/2 supply voltage)? The way I understand it is that if I have an audio signal alternating above and below 0v and the digi pot's supplies are at +5v and 0v, then the pot would clip off anything below 0v. Is this correct?

thanks,
