Would it be possible (or practical) to add Ethernet chip to the BF70x DSP? Our development team would like to have Ethernet function, but I just don't see how it is possible. Please advise.
You could use an external ethernet controller IC that connects to the Static Memory Controller of the processor. I don't have a new example, but you can refer to the old examples from BF533 and BF535. The ICs may be out dated but you will get an idea about it. In any case, you will need to understand the SMC of BF70x if proceeding with that.
Or just use a 28J60 or even a W5100. These chips will isolate you from low level Ethernet protocol. Moreover, W5100 can even manage TCPIP, so you can simply use it as a BSD socket, and it manages all TCPIP things internally.
