SSM2315 Class D amplifier going bad

Hi all,

We are using SSM2315CBZ-REEL Class D amplifier in one of our proto designs.

Below is the snapshot of the schematic of amplifier section.

We are using 8E , 700mW speaker.

We are using the default gain of amplifier i.e 6dB.

We are able to get clear output on the speakers with the desired volume without any issues.

But after continuous usage, we are facing issues in some of the boards.

In some of the boards we are hearing some additional noise, whereas some other boards Class-D amplifier will not give out any output even though valid input is present.

In both the scenarios, we replaced the Class D amplifier & it started to work as expected.

This behavior is random & happened on almost 40% of the proto boards.

We are using 700mW speaker which is less than the actual 1.4W speaker specification mentioned in the datasheet.

What can be the reasons for this ?

We look forward to suggestions to conclude on this.

Thanks,

Suresha
