We are evaluating ADuM5010 on a universal PCB and an overshoot appears at start-up as attached.We would like to know a solution to remove the overshoot.Can we use a Zener diode to clamp the overshoot?
Adding a zener clamp may be hard to get the zener voltage right over process and temp to prevent overshoot, and not be clamping in normal operation and consuming output current.The ADuM5010 has a soft start, so the overshoot is actually reduced compared to the previous generation, the ADuM5000.
With load, the amount of ADuM5010 overshoot should be less. Adding more capacitance to the Viso output should help reduce the overshoot. The recommended value is normally 10uF, but you could add larger values, 22uF or 47uF to reduce the overshoot.

1)Can We get a example of overshoot in the following conditions?
- 5V input, 5V output. - 47uF output capacitance. - Load(170 ohm etc.) and no load.
2)Can we increase the output capacitance up to?
The datasheet of ADuM5000 describes the typical Output Voltage Start-Up Transientat 10% and 90% Load, VISO = 5 V in Figure 12.We also would like to know that of ADuM5010 and the maximum output capacitance.
