I was wondering if there is any way I can model changing the output biasing inductor (L1 in the datasheet) from a 6.35 uH inductor to a 100 nH inductor?
Not that I'm aware of. We provide de-embedded s-parameters for the HMC788A on the product but don't think you can model the effect the changing the choke inductor using the model file in simulation. I would suggest trying this out experimentally using an evaluation board.
I'm also referencing a App note that provides useful guidance on picking choke inductors for HMC products.
