What is an effect of using different CLKIN frequency than nominal with the AD2S12XX converter ?
R2D converters from ADI are specified with 8.192 MHz clock nominaly however it is possible to change the clock frequency within the datasheet specification. It should be noted that CLKIN frequency has an effect on few parameters of the device like:
- maximum tracking rate
- settling time
The parameter which is usually of highest interest is "maximum tracking rate" as it affect the LSB size of velocity output. The relation between the CLKIN frequency at the tracking rate is simple. X% of CLKIN frequency shift results in X% change of maximum tracking rate. Such as 5 % CLKIN frequency increase will results in 5% greater maximum tracking rate and 5% bigger velocity LSB size.
