Alternative to ADuC7026 Flash WRT Protection Released with FEECON Mass Erase

We are using a portion of Flash Memory to store system configuration data. As a result we need our IAP boot-loader to avoid using the FEECON Mass Erase (0x06) command.

We are hoping that all write protection (keyed and otherwise) will be released from a 512 byte block of flash memory when the single erase protocol is applied to it. If this is not the case will we have to go through the same multi-step process as was used to protect the memory, to unprotect the memory (Protect Type 0x00, Protect Type 0x0F, Protect Type 0x01)?
