When you use AD8338 AGC function for AM signal(connecting DETO pin with GAIN pin and connecting MODE pin with GND pin , will modulating signal's amplitude be suppression.Should we insert a low pass filter to prevent it.
When you refer to using the device for AM, is this AM modulation or demodulation?
If in modulation, you won't be able to obtain DSBSC operation as the signal amplitude does not actually go to zero.
i want to use the device for demodulation. What i worried about is will AD8338 AGC function be react to the AM modulating signal and make the signal lost it's information on the modulated amplitude. My signal is (carrier: 450kHz, modulation: 135Hz-2kHz).
The signal is Normal AM signal，not DSBSC or SSBSC。thank you !
For Demodulation, you will want to recover the signal off of the Gain/DETO pin. Be advised that the AGC loop's attack and decay times are not symmetrical, so you may find some nonlinearity. 2kHz is relatively slow, so I do not think this would be a factor. You will want to pick a relatively small AGC integration capacitor (DETO to Ground) so that the loop can respond quickly.
