Is there a model for high speed A/D converters so that I can evaluate performance without requiring hardware?
Yes, through our ADIsimADC™ behavioral modeling tool. It is a free library that can be called from your simulation environment (e.g. ADS, Matlab, MW Office, etc.) and accurately models time and frequency domain characteristics of high speed A/D converters under user specified test conditions. These include (but are not limited to) AC and DC performance, linearity, latency, thermal noise, quantization, and jitter. The modeled performance strongly correlates with typical performance of a converter, like that which you would see in the datasheet. Analog Devices provides two in-house developed applications to aid in converter evaluation. VisualAnalog is a software package that combines a powerful set of simulation and data analysis tools with a user-friendly graphical interface (available here). Also available is our ADIsimADC Online Design Tool which facilitates initial evaluation without needing to download anything (available here).
