I want to show OSD on TV by ADV7625 evalution board. But I don't know to connect and to load OSD. Please help me.
Hi Roger Lin,
Seems like MINGW compiler is not installed properly in your side.
MinGW can be installed manually by going to: http://sourceforge.net/projects/mingw/?source=directory
When running the MinGW get setup installation, please make sure that all packages are selected except Mingw-developer-tool,Mingw32-gcc-fortran & Msys-base in basic setup. MinGW installation manger is shown in Figure attached.
We are updating this section in Blimp user manual and it will be available in Blimp OSD designer page soon.
Are you using Blimp to design your own OSD and you want to display it?
Yes,I use the Blimp to design my OSD. I want display it.But I don't need to do.
In Blimp, under project settings build option, there is memory configuration option available for user. User can configure either Internal Flash or external Flash Memory.
Please Refer section 4.2.4 Memory configuration section in Blimp ADV7625 Framework user manual at https://ez.analog.com/docs/DOC-10635
Our ADV7625 evaluation board comes programmed with a software driver which has in built OSD data in internal flash. So there is no need to flash the OSD data as it is already programmed.
Are you using our software driver?
You mean I just only connect ADV7625 evalution board with my computer, and it can work automatically.
My destination: I want to show the OSD on my TV and I can control the OSD.
the following is my progress:
As shown, this is my connection diagram.
Is there a SOP can be operated?
OSD can be output on TV by remote control for the EVAL-ADV7625-SMZ platform
The remote button operations for EVAL-ADV7625 SMZ platform is as follows
MENU button – OSD menu on/off
OK button – To select an option
NAVIGATION LEFT button - To move Left on OSD menu
NAVIGATION RIGHTbutton– To move Right on OSD menu
NAVIGATION UP button– To go up
NAVIGATION DOWN button – To move down the OSD menu
How to set these remote code in Blimp?
You would have received the evaluation board with remote. So you can operate the remote button operations as mentioned above to see the demo OSD on TV. There is no need to set any remote code in Blimp. This OSD is already programmed in the evaluation board.
You mean EVAL-ADV7625 SMZ have a remote?
Yes. Otherwise try with Sony TV Remote. This will work.
OSD can working. But I don't know how Loding my setting with Blimp?
I don't understand your question. You want to display your own OSD in eval board as like the "Demo OSD" displayed?.
Yes,I want to do this.
Are you using our software driver code?
Yes,it is your software driver code.
Then in the Release package, we have provided you the document "Advantiv Cross Point application user guide" Appendix A which explains how to integrate OSD from Blimp with HDMI Software driver. Please Refer this.
Also you need to go through Blimp user manual at Blimp OSD Designer tool for NatureVue™ ADV800x and Advantiv® ADV7625
I try to method from your data.
method 1 : Tool -> Program flash memory
method 2 : Debug -> Emulate
Do I need to do something in HW?
First of all, please share the Blimp version and Software driver version that you have been using it.
In your first method, please try with internal flash since external flash has some known issue and we are working on this to resolve it in next release.
Regarding your second question, I did not get what error is reporting in the console. Please let me know what modifications you have done it in the code window?. If possible please share your Blimp project.
I just changed pixels the OSD DEMO project. No error.
It is my Blimpversion version.
What is your Software driver version? You can send "Rev" command in RS-232 console and you can know the version of the software driver version.
Seems like you have resolved the blimp problem in your side. Now you could emulate it successfully.
As I stated previously, did you refer the Document "Advantiv Cross Point application user guide" Appendix A which explains how to integrate OSD from Blimp with HDMI Software driver.? Then you can verify the OSD output in TV using hardware.
this is my software driver version .
No error ,but OSD can not output in TV using hardware.
The result is still the same
Your graphic above shows the version info for the u-boot bootloader. That's not what Jeyasudha is looking for.
Jeyasudha is looking for the version info for the software driver. Please send all of the RS232 output after you power up the board.
I send "Rev" command in RS-232 console, but "Rev" is Unknown command.
All of the RS232 output after you power up the board.
The bfin> prompt is the u-boot bootloader. We want the revision info for the software driver.
Wait until the countdown from 5 to 0 is done and the software driver (repeater software) launches. Then type "rev".
BTW: It looks like your RS232 output is corrupted. I would suggest you use Teraterm rather than PuTTY.
From Teraterm, you can copy the RS232 output to a text file and attach this to the thread.
Please follow Matt Instructions. Also please refer the document for integrating OSD with HDMI software driver. If you don't have the document, please let us know. Without referring document, seeing output in hardware would be difficult. I don't know what procedure you have followed.
I send any command to RS-232 console.but I did not receive any answer after RS-232 Stop.
Please use Tera Term utility for RS-232 log instead of Putty
I use the Tera Term allready,
I could see the print that you have been using X2.2.2 software driver version.
For entering command not working in console, you could reestablish the RS-232 connection by simply closing the current console and opening it again will resolve it.
Sometimes changing cable will resolve the problem and sometimes for the current RS-232 connection, you can use connect -> Reset Port will be helpful. Check and you can apply the command "Rev" and verify that X2.2.2 version is being used.
I try to method from your Suggest, but it still no response from Eval Board.
"the document for integrating OSD with HDMI software driver" ,What name is the data? .
The name of the document is "Advantiv Cross Point application user guide",
Regarding the board is not operating for console command, have you tried with some other COM ports in your PC?
I try to COM8,COM9 and COM13 .The result are the same.
Please check whether settings are as like attached.
If above settings don't fix the issue, please try another RS232 device. Occasionally, we find where a customer has purchased an USB-to-RS232 adapter that has issues.
Can I connect to computer with RS-232 and USB on the ADV7625 evalution board at the same time?
There is RS-232 port in ADV7625 Eval board. You need to connect this RS232 interface between the computer and board if your computer has RS232. If your computer has USB, then you need to use USB-RS232 adapter to connect it to your board RS232.
Don't use both USB and RS-232 port of eval board together, only use RS232 port of board.
Please refer user guide of this eval board at http://www.analog.com/media/en/technical-documentation/evaluation-documentation/EVAL-ADV7625-SMZ_UG-603.pdf
I just use RS-232 on ADV7625 evalution board.
My Blimp can not using debug-> emulate to show OSD with ADV7625 evalution board. How to set in Blimp?
Now I think that your RS-232 problem is resolved, hope you can enter commands in console and it can respond.
Using blimp, OSD what ever you have designed you can verify it in emulator. But verifying the OSD in hardware using ADV7625 evaluation board, you need to follow some procedure that is documented in Advantiv Cross Point application user guide. Please Refer this document.
As shown in Figure. It have respond .
As shown in Figure. Using blimp, Emulator is unable. No any error.
I do not know what the problem.
Could you please share the Blimp project?let me have a look.
I hope that you have resolved the problem in emulator and could see the emulator output now Right.
If you want to change the resolution from designed resolution 480p to some other active resolutions like 576 or 1080p, then you can use the copy resolution. This is already discussed in Blimp user manual section 3.14 Multiresolution configuration.
Did you install MINGW ? It is also needed . then only you can see the emulator output.
If not, please refer Blimp user manual section 2.2 Installing Blimp
I install the MINGW already.
Blimp is not any error with emulator ,but emulator still can not be used.
Could you please provide the snapshot of your emulator window?.
I don't understand what is happened for emulator . Did you do the Debug-> emulate in blimp project and see the emulator window or not?. I have used your project that you used recently and could see the emulator window as like attached
I can not see the emulator window.I do the Debug-> emulate in blimp project ,but the emulator window can not opened.
As shown in Figure.Doing the Debug-> emulate just can to see the console message .
Can you simply create a new Blimp project by choosing ADV7625 OSD and don't need to drag and drop any components in canvas window?. Simply emulate it (Debug->emulate) and check whether you can see the empty emulator window as like attached.
I want to check whether the problem in Blimp OSD Demo project that you already have it or problems in some configurations or installations.
the same as result.
Please repeat the same for ADV8005 OSD also. Create new Blimp project but by chossing ADV8005 OSD, not ADV7625 OSD and check whether you could see the emulator output.
As shown in Figure.this is to Create new Blimp project for ADV8005 OSD.Likewise no output.
Roger / Jeyasudha,
Just to clarify, only the ADV8003/ADV8005 evaluation boards ship with a remote. The EVAL-ADV7625-SMZ does not ship with a remote.
Thanks very much for the information.
