Modifying example code requires 'clean all' in order to recompile?

I'm working with the 21469 EZ kit, USB EZ Extender and Crosscore Studio.

I've been modifying the VendorBulkDemo included with the USB extender BSP. The only source file I want to change is usb_redirect_io.c. If I do not clean the project before attempting to build the project I get this error:

14:14:52 **** Incremental Build of configuration Debug for project VendorBulkDemo21469 ****
make all
make: *** No rule to make target `../../../../../../../../Analog Devices/Blackfin-SHARC_USB_Extender_Board_(EI2)-Rel1.1.0/Blackfin-SHARC_USB_Extender_Board_(EI2)/Host/Examples/Windows/VendorBulk/hostapp.h', needed by `src/usb_redirect_io.doj'.  Stop.

I'm not sure why the entire project would need to be cleaned and then re-built just for modifying one file.

Is there a better way to edit example projects? Or do I really need to clean the project each time before building?
