How to use peripheral interrupts(USB,TTC) in ADV7511, zedboard reference design?

I'm designing a system for Zedboard, using ADV7511 reference design, that receives data from the USB port every 20ms and plots them in a HDMI screen. For this design, I need to use the interrupt system in order to be able to receive the data from the USB port. I have been able to implement the input stage at a separate software project using the same hardware platform, but everytime I try to connect those peripherals to the interrupt system(gic) of the the reference desing, the transmitter seems to hang. I can't even locate the initialization of the interrupt system in the refernce design, in order to understand the way it is used. Any help would be much appreciated!
