I just downloaded and installed AVES3 and the server crashes every time I start the application. I am running Windows 7 64-bit.
This points to some kind of pathing problem, possibly by installing in a directory off the root, C:\.... Did you changed the install directory during installation. If so try to re-install it in the default location.
Are there any crash messages that you can attach here?
Check the Task Manager, Processes tab after a crash, see if the process AVES3Server.exe is still running, possibly multiple copies. The process didn't close correctly causing later issues. Either kill those tasks or reboot the PC.
I'd really need to look at the crash error messages to see what's happening.
The first message is this:
I select Debug and the second is this:
Visual Studio then opens the assembly code for System.IO.Path.InternalCombine
There are no entries in the task manager for the aves server after this.
You nailed it. While I didn't change the install location, I didn't check it either. For some reason it defaulted to my network "home" drive. Once I installed it onto my local hard drive it works fine.
More reading indicates that crash is related bad characters in the path. Glad you're back up and running.
