AD8232 problem.

Hi.

I am having an issue getting required results from the AD8232 using a function
generator. I am inputting a sine wave of 1.68Hz at 3mV. I connect the positive
terminal of my generator to pin 2 and the ground pin to pin 3. I get an output
of about 600mV and signal deformation begins at an input of 11mV. When I flip
the connections around, positive terminal from generator to pin 1 and ground
pin to pin 2, I get an output of about 440mV and signal deformation begins at
an input of 15mV. I would expect these results to be the same except the signal
just being inverted. Can the AD8232 somehow detect the polarity of the
connection or is there something wrong with my connection configurations or a
ground issue? The device is powered by a 3 volt battery converted down to 2.3V.

Thanks.
