I'm currently still working with VisualDSP++ and the ADZS-HPUSB-ICE JTAG emulator. Do you know, if the same emulator can be used with the CrossCore Embedded Studio to do ARM / SHARC+ debugging?
One unfortunate side effect of the move to CoreSight based debugging in our new ADSP-BF70x and ADSP-SC58x processors is an incompatibility with older emulators such as the HPUSB-ICE. The new ARM/SHARC+ based parts require the use of an ICE-1000 or ICE-2000 emulator.
Hope this helps,
Ok, no problem. Can you point me to a document that would describe the major difference between those 2 probes. I could see that the ICE-1000 is running at 5MHz while the ICE-2000 goes up to 46MHz. Are there other major drawbacks of the ICE-1000? As it's 10 times less expensive than the big brother I'm trying to figure out the reason.
I think you've got the right of it. The primary difference between the ICE-1000 and the ICE-2000 (besides price) is:
Assuming that you're ok with the slower speed and your JTAG signals are relatively clean (see EE-68 for a good reference on how to do this) then the ICE-1000 should be fine for your needs.
