AD7195 - why is zero offset value 0x80000?

When I perform an internal zero offset, or short the inputs to 0V, the offset is around 0x800000.

Why? I would have thought that with 24 bit resolution it would have been 0x000000 over the full range of 0-5V

Am I only getting 23 bits of resolution and have to ignore the MSB?
