Do the Offset and FullScale registers have any effect on data readings, or are they storage only?
The coefficients stored on the Offset and FullScale registers are used to scale the ADC conversion results after each conversion, before the ADC conversion results are written to the data register.
The offset calibration coefficient is subtracted from the result prior to multiplication by the full-scale coefficient.
I am using this chip with a PT100, taking the reference from a 5K precision resistor to obtain sub-milliKelvin resolution.
As part of the startup routine I get it to do an internal calibration, with results in the Offset and Fullscale registers.
The problem is that each reset loads sufficiently different values that accuracy of the temperature measurements degrades by up to 20mK, which is unacceptable.
So, what is the recommended procedure for handling this situation?
