We are having an issue where noise from an ESU (electric cauterizer) is upsetting the HDMI receiver (AD9398) in our design. The interference is not coming in on the inputs, but rather absorbed directly through the top of the package. We know this because we can fix the problem merely by putting a locally grounded piece of copper tape on top of the package.
What we want to know;
- Is there an inherent sensitivity to EM noise directly to the silicon?
- Although we followed the layout recommendations on page 38 of the data sheet, is there something we are not doing to our layout?
- Is simply shielding the part a good remedy?
- Is the ADV7611 less sensitive to radiated noise?
If you can offer any suggestions, it will be much appreciated. Thanks.
