Can the AD7829 be used with a 3.7V power supply?
this is outside of the 3V±10% and 5V±10% ranges?
Would this have any effect on the devices life or performance?
The AD7829 works fine for a 3.3V ± 10% power supply range. Even if the supply goes up to 3.7 V there should be no problems in operation and it wont decrease the devices life or accuracy. As you know from the datasheet, the specifications are guaranteed for a 3V ± 10% power supply range but, we believe there should be no problems operating the device with a supply up to 3.7V.
The problems occur when the power supply gets higher than this as there is a VDD detector on chip which determines the analog input range. The part will switch to 5V mode when VDD goes above about 4.1 V and on the other hand, when operating in 5V mode, it will switch to 3V mode when VDD goes below 3.8 V.
