Interfacing ADSP-BF524 with Spartan6 FPGA using SPORT0

I am currently working with the ADSP-BF524 DSP and I am trying to interface it with a Spartan6 FPGA via the PAVPipe board. As shown in the PAVPipe schematics, it can be connected to the BF524 through the SPORT pins ( TFS0A,TSCLK0A,DTOPR1A and RFS0A,RSCLK0A,DROPR1A). But I am not very sure about the procedure to interface the two boards. I found a FPGA_sports_test.c file from the Blackfin\Examples\ADSP-BF527 EZ-KIT Lite\Power_On_Self_Test\Parallel\test_FPGA folder. I have attached the file.  But this is for the ADSP-BF527 EZ-KIT Lite board and I believe the BF-524 dsp is compatible with the ADSP-BF526 EZ-KIT Lite board. Could I follow the same procedure as given in the FPGA_sports_test.c file? Will it be the same? I am quite new to this area, so kindly excuse me if my questions seem to be very straight forward. I would be grateful if someone could help me out.
