Hi Sir:

We use AD9361 on our project, and find a situation need your help, that about gain control (AGC/MGC) and RSSI.

The test signal from signal generator, and we adjust the signal strength decreasing or increasing.

Strength decreasing: from "-50dBm to -90 dBm" (-50dBm, -60dBm, -70dBm, -80dBm, -90dBm)

Strength increasing : from "-90dBm to -50 dBm" (-90dBm, -80dBm, -70dBm, -60dBm, -50dBm)

Case 1:

Setting AD9361 on AGC mode

Always get the RSSI values "-53, -63, -72, -80, -89", when signal strength decreasing.

Always get the RSSI values "-89, -80, -71, -61, -53", when signal strength increasing.

Case 2: (Setting AD9361 MGC mode, for reference only)

If we fixed the gain:

The RSSI values are always -53, -60, -70, -80, -89, even signal strength decreasing or increasing.

On AGC mode (case 1), we think the RSSI values should be same both signal strength decreasing and increasing, but it does not.

Could you help clarify this question?

Thanks and Best Regards,

Keven Chen
