Does Visual DSP++ ever make my source code files read-only?
I am always ending up with source code that is read-only. Sometimes this happens from Microsoft TFS Source Control, but I feel like Visual DSP++ is doing this sometimes also...not sure.
The VisualDSP++ tools should never modify the read/write/execute permissions of a file.
Based on previous experience using source code control such as Microsoft Visual SourceSafe and VisualDSP++, and when you don't have the project checked out the sources you're working with then in this case its SourceSafe that will make your copy of all files read-only until you do an check out again. And when you check in and don't set the option to stay checked out then upon check in completion your files will again become ready-only. Also when you copy files from the repository using Visual SourceSafe's client to your computer on an older checked in file dates then they automatically get set read-only because you didn't check them out.
Visual SourceSafe can be used in either two ways, via the client with its own dedicated interface or within VisualDSP++ IDE using Project menu -> Source Control menu tree. First time use need to set a provider in Select Provider and choose Visual SourceSafe from what I recall if you haven't used it within the IDE before.
So, I hope that helped you figure out where the problem lies in what is causing your sources to become ready-only unexpectedly.
