VDSP Flash Programmer Chip Info

I'm using the VDSP flash programmer to flash a custom DSP board that uses the 21489.  I'm using the flash programmer for the 21489 EZ-KIT found in:

C:\Program Files\Analog Devices\VisualDSP 5.0 SP8\214xx\Examples\ADSP-21489 EZ-Board\Flash Programmer\Serial

The EZ-KIT uses a 16 Mbit part while my hardware has a 4 Mbit part.  When the VDSP flash programmer connects it shows the 16 Mbit STMicro M25P16 part (we are using the M25P40 part).  Question - is the M25P16 information hard coded into the flash programmer executable (i.e., will it only work for the 21489 EZ-KIT), or does it read back the flash part number when it connects over JTAG?
