Custom programming board for 1701?

Hello guys! I have been thinking about making a small audio DSP board, which combines adau1701 and the programmer. Something you plug into a USB port, connect audio input and audio output cables, open SigmaStudio and do whatever. Does anybody know, is it possible to build a custom programming board for adau1701, which is also accepted by SigmaStudio, so that I could just plug one board in a USB slot, open SigmaStudio and make something up? I am asking such a question, because as far as I know the EVAL-ADUSB2EBZ uses a proprietary firmware, which I am not so sure is available for using and downloading.
